SINOPEC Luoyang Petrochemical Engineering Corporation (LPEC) was founded in 1956. It is one of world leading engineering firms, which offers full-spectrum of services of basic design, project engineering, project consulting, EPC project contracting of petroleum refining and petrochemical projects, oil & gas terminals and long-distance oil pipelines as well as research & development (R&D) of petroleum refining processes and equipment. LPEC is one of the earliest companies in China who worked as a turnkey project contractor. It has Class A qualification certificates for project engineering, EPC project contracting, project supervision, engineering consulting and environmental impact assessment etc licensed by the state authorities. It passed the authentication of ISO9001 quality system in 1997 and HSE management system in 2004.

     Ever since its establishment, LPEC has successfully engineered and executed over 1000 large and medium-size projects of petroleum refineries, petrochemical plants, refining and petrochemical process units, LNG plants, chemical and pharmaceutical production units, oil depots and terminals, long-distance oil pipelines and municipal infrastructure facilities, which are distributed over China's 29 provinces and autonomous regions. It has also successfully cooperated with the foreign and domestic engineering firms and process licensors in the engineering, procurement and EPC contracting of over 40 overseas projects in the countries and regions in Asia, Europe and Africa. Its proprietary processes and technologies have been licensed by both domestic and foreign users.

     LPEC has won 47 items of National Science and Technology Development Prize, 263 items of provincial and ministerial Science and Technology Development Prize and 19 items of National Excellent Engineering Design Prize. In addition to the strong capability of project engineering and EPC contract implementation, LPEC is also robust in the research and development activities. LPEC has also attained 180 active patents authorized by the state patent administration authorities and 122 active patents authorized by the patent administrations of United States and European countries. It has 68 items of know-how. Equipped with advanced research equipment and facilities, it has successfully completed the a number of national and SINOPEC'S critical research & development programs like residue hydrotreating, low-pressure combination-bed catalytic reforming and heavy oil catalytic cracking for maximum ethylene production etc.

     LPEC has its unique engineering technologies in fluid catalytic cracking, hydroprocessing, delayed coking, hydrogen generation, methanol to olefin (MTO) and oil & gas storage and delivery etc, and has successfully completed the development of scale-up technology and engineering of the largest atmospheric-vacuum distillation unit, FCC unit, hydrocracker and hydrofining unit, continuous catalytic reformer and PX unit etc as well as the refinery with the largest single-train capacity and the largest-size refinery in China, pioneering many "China's Largests".

     LPEC has a strong technical force including 1 academician of China Academy of Sciences, 3 national design masters, 36 senior engineers of professorship, 526 senior engineers and 217 registered engineers of various specialties.
