LPEC Research Institute of Petrochemical Engineering Technology
is a specialized R & D institution under SINOPEC restructured
from the former Petroleum Refining Research Institute and Petrochemical
Equipment Research Institute.
In the past 30 years, it has made many great achievements in chemical
engineering, petroleum refining process, corrosion prevention of
equipment, oil processing co-catalysts and additives, special oils
for metal processing as well mechanical equipment for petrochemical
services. Some of the technologies are at the leading edge in the
petrochemical industry of the world. The technologies in fluidized
catalytic cracking engineering it developed have been successfully
applied in many commercial process units and plants. The successful
development of equipment corrosion protection package has solved
corrosion problems in processing high-sulfur and high-acidity crude
oils. Its unique oil refining processes such as flexible dual-function
fluid catalytic cracking process (FDFCC), etc provides a cost-effective
means for processing heavy oils and producing clean fuels. The heavy
oil contact cracking process (HCC) offers a new route for producing
ethylene from heavy oils. Its co-catalysts and additives of excellent
performances have ensured a reliable long-term unit operation at
full capacity. The different varieties of rolling oils for metal
processing are widely applied by the users.
LPEC Research Institute of Petrochemical Engineering Technology
has a strong technical force of about 313 people, in which 37 have
doctor and master degrees, 13 are senior engineers of professorship
and 84 senior engineers. In addition it is also well equipped with
hundreds of the advanced modern analytical and testing instruments,
equipment and pilot plants which provide good conditions for the
R & D activities.
